Community Meetings

The first community meeting was held on June 12th, 2023. The goal of this meeting was to educate the community on what a Business Improvement District (BID) is, how they can help Downtown Torrance, and how they are established. Steering Committee Meetings

The second community meeting was held on September 11th, 2023. The goal of this meeting was to answer any questions or concerns the community had about a potential BID. The presentation given by the consultant team can be viewed HERE. The meeting was recorded and can be viewed below.

Steering Committee Meetings were held every other Monday at 4pm, from summer of 2022 to fall of 2023. A number of business and property owners came together to explore a Business Improvement District. The Committee is currently collecting petitions from the property owners to meet the 50.1% threshold of assessments to be paid and will then go to the city to approve an ordinance to establish district. As of now, August 2024, petitions representing 33.45% have been signed and collected. The steering committee is continuing to work on getting more petitions signed to enable the establishment of a BID in 2026. If 50.1% of petitions representing the assessment to be paid are not signed then no BID will be established.
